| 1 | | HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given
| 4 | | their lives in service to their communities; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy Sean Riley was | 6 | | killed in the line of duty on December 29, 2021; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Riley was born to Doug and Mary Jo (Hill) | 8 | | Riley on November 5, 1983; he married Leslie Young on August | 9 | | 11, 2007; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Riley was a three-year veteran of the | 11 | | Wayne County Sheriff's Department, where he served as both a | 12 | | corrections officer and patrol deputy; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Riley was preceded in death by his mother, | 14 | | Mary Jo Riley; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Deputy Riley was | 16 | | survived by his wife, Leslie; his children, Logan Brown, | 17 | | Deegan Riley, and Mia Jo Riley; his father, Doug Riley; his | 18 | | sister, Spring (Darrin) Bonney; his mother-in-law, Glenda | 19 | | Young; his sister-in-law, Glenna (Jim) Michael; and several | 20 | | aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special aunt, Margaret (Joe) |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 3 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE | 4 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Interstate 64 in | 5 | | Wayne County from Mile Post 112 to 116 as the "Deputy Sean | 6 | | Riley Memorial Highway"; and be it further | 7 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| 8 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| 9 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| 10 | | giving notice of the name "Deputy Sean Riley Memorial | 11 | | Highway"; and be it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Deputy Riley and the Secretary of | 14 | | Transportation.
