210 ILCS 85/6.35 new

Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act. Requires the University of Illinois Hospital to provide patients who overdose or have symptoms of opioid use disorder with an opioid antagonist upon discharge. Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Requires hospitals licensed under the Act to provide patients who overdose or have symptoms of opioid use disorder with an opioid antagonist upon discharge.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is amended by adding Section 6.8 as follows:

(110 ILCS 330/6.8 new)

Sec. 6.8. Opioid antagonist. The University of Illinois Hospital shall provide patients who overdose or have symptoms of opioid use disorder with an opioid antagonist upon discharge.

Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 6.35 as follows:

(210 ILCS 85/6.35 new)

Sec. 6.35. Opioid antagonist. A hospital licensed under this Act must provide patients who overdose or have symptoms of opioid use disorder with an opioid antagonist upon discharge.
