SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
605 ILCS 5/4-406  from Ch. 121, par. 4-406

    Amends the Illinois Highway Code. Provides that the Department of Transportation shall include in its annual appropriations request funding to local municipalities for maintaining any local roads that are negatively impacted by adjoining Department highway construction projects.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by
5changing Section 4-406 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/4-406)  (from Ch. 121, par. 4-406)
7    Sec. 4-406. The Department is authorized to enter into
8contracts with any municipal corporation, terminable in the
9discretion of the Department, for the municipal corporation to
10maintain any State highway, or any part thereof, located
11within such municipal corporation, such maintenance to be
12under the supervision of the Department and at the expense of
13the State.
14    The Department is authorized to enter into similar
15contracts with any county for the county to maintain any State
16highway, or any part thereof, which was originally constructed
17by the county, such maintenance to be under the supervision of
18the Department and at the expense of the State.
19    The Department shall include in its annual appropriations
20request funding to local municipalities for maintaining any
21local roads that are negatively impacted by adjoining
22Department highway construction projects.
