1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
52-3.204 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.204 new)
7    Sec. 2-3.204. Air quality resources. The State Board of
8Education shall, in consultation with the Department of Public
9Health, compile resources for elementary and secondary schools
10relating to indoor air quality in schools, including best
11practices for assessing and maintaining ventilation systems
12and information on any potential State or federal funding
13sources that may assist a school in identifying ventilation
14needs. The State Board of Education shall compile these
15resources in consultation with stakeholders, including, but
16not limited to, the Department of Public Health, local public
17health professionals, ventilation professionals affiliated
18with a Department of Labor apprenticeship program, licensed
19design professionals, representatives from regional offices of
20education, school district administrators, teachers, or any
21other relevant professionals, stakeholders, or representatives
22of State agencies. No later than 30 days after resources are
23compiled under this Section, the State Board of Education

1shall implement outreach strategies to make the compiled
2resources available to elementary and secondary schools,
3including publication of the compiled resources on the State
4Board of Education's website. The State Board of Education
5may, in consultation with the Department of Public Health or
6any other relevant stakeholders, update the compiled resources
7as necessary.
 
8    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
91, 2025.
