SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

415 ILCS 30/9.3 new

Amends the Illinois Water Well Construction Code. Provides that the minimum lateral setback distance between a closed-loop well and a storm sewer, sanitary sewer, combined sewer, or any other potential source of contamination is 5 feet. Specifies that setbacks from footing drains and pits, crawl spaces, and basements do not apply to closed-loop wells.

AN ACT concerning safety.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Water Well Construction Code is amended by adding Section 9.3 as follows:

(415 ILCS 30/9.3 new)

Sec. 9.3. Closed-loop well setbacks.

(a) The minimum lateral setback distance between a closed-loop well and a storm sewer, sanitary sewer, combined sewer, or any other potential source of contamination is 5 feet.

(b) Setbacks from footing drains and pits, crawl spaces, and basements do not apply to closed-loop wells.
