SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/22-100 new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that any involvement by a law enforcement agency in an incident at a school or on school owned or leased property, including any conveyance owned, leased, or used by the school for the transport of students or school personnel, shall be reported monthly to the Illinois State Police by the school district superintendent or his or her designee or other appropriate administrative officer if the school is a nonpublic school. Provides that the State Board of Education shall receive an annual statistical compilation and related data associated with the reporting from the Illinois State Police. Provides that the State Board of Education shall compile this information by school and make it available to the public. Effective July 1, 2024.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
522-100 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/22-100 new)
7    Sec. 22-100. Reporting law enforcement involvement in
8incidents at school.
9    (a) In this Section, "school" means a public or nonpublic
10elementary or secondary school.
11    (b) Any involvement by a law enforcement agency in an
12incident at a school or on school owned or leased property,
13including any conveyance owned, leased, or used by the school
14for the transport of students or school personnel, shall be
15reported monthly to the Illinois State Police, in a form and
16manner prescribed by the Illinois State Police, by the school
17district superintendent or his or her designee or other
18appropriate administrative officer if the school is a
19nonpublic school.
20    (c) The State Board of Education shall receive an annual
21statistical compilation and related data associated with the
22reporting under subsection (a) from the Illinois State Police.

2    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
32024.
