SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 505/2BBBB new

    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that a restaurant shall clearly and prominently disclose all fees outside of food costs and taxes that are added to a customer's bill, including administrative fees, at the beginning of the ordering process. Provides that a restaurant that violates the provisions commits an unlawful practice within the meaning of the Act.

1    AN ACT concerning business.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2BBBB as follows:
 
6    (815 ILCS 505/2BBBB new)
7    Sec. 2BBBB. Restaurants disclose additional fees.
8    (a) As used in this Section, "restaurant" means any
9business that is primarily engaged in the sale of ready-to-eat
10food for immediate consumption.
11    (b) A restaurant shall clearly and prominently disclose
12all fees outside of food costs and taxes that are added to a
13customer's bill, including administrative fees, at the
14beginning of the ordering process. A restaurant that violates
15this Section commits an unlawful practice within the meaning
16of this Act.
