SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

815 ILCS 505/2BBBB new

Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that a restaurant shall clearly and prominently disclose all fees outside of food costs and taxes that are added to a customer's bill, including administrative fees, at the beginning of the ordering process. Provides that a restaurant that violates the provisions commits an unlawful practice within the meaning of the Act.

AN ACT concerning business.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2BBBB as follows:

(815 ILCS 505/2BBBB new)

Sec. 2BBBB. Restaurants disclose additional fees.

(a) As used in this Section, "restaurant" means any business that is primarily engaged in the sale of ready-to-eat food for immediate consumption.

(b) A restaurant shall clearly and prominently disclose all fees outside of food costs and taxes that are added to a customer's bill, including administrative fees, at the beginning of the ordering process. A restaurant that violates this Section commits an unlawful practice within the meaning of this Act.
