SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 205/9.43 new

    Amends the Board of Higher Education Act. Provides that the Board of Higher Education shall create model courses for public and private institutions of higher education to teach students how to be referees in the following sports: baseball, basketball, competitive cheer, competitive dance, football, boys' gymnastics, girls' gymnastics, boys' lacrosse, girls' lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, track and field, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. Provides that the Board shall develop a separate model course for each listed sport.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by
5adding Section 9.43 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 205/9.43 new)
7    Sec. 9.43. Model referee courses. The Board shall create
8model courses for public and private institutions of higher
9education to teach students how to be referees in the
10following sports: baseball, basketball, competitive cheer,
11competitive dance, football, boys' gymnastics, girls'
12gymnastics, boys' lacrosse, girls' lacrosse, soccer, softball,

14and wrestling. The Board shall develop a separate model course
15for each previously listed sport.
