SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

210 ILCS 85/6.34 new

Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that hospitals licensed under the Act are prohibited from preventing the administration of a prescription medication to a patient if the patient's treating physician has prescribed the medication.

AN ACT concerning health.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 6.34 as follows:

(210 ILCS 85/6.34 new)

Sec. 6.34. Prescription medication; administration to patients. A hospital licensed under this Act is prohibited from preventing the administration of a prescription medication to a patient if the patient's treating physician has prescribed the medication.
