SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/1-131.6 new
625 ILCS 5/1-158	from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-158

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Changes the definition of "pedestrian" to include a person operating a skateboard. Defines "skateboard" as any non-pedestrian device consisting of a deck with one or more wheels or rollers mounted thereon and upon which the operator stands, sits, or lies during use.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing Section 1-158 and adding Section 1-131.6 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/1-131.6 new)

Sec. 1-131.6. Skateboard. Any non-pedestrian device consisting of a deck with one or more wheels or rollers mounted thereon and upon which the operator stands, sits, or lies during use.

Sec. 1-158. Pedestrian. Any person afoot, or wearing in-line speed skates, or operating a skateboard, including a person with a physical, hearing, or visual disability.
