SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 835/4d new

Amends the State Parks Act to require the Department of Natural Resources to establish a pilot program to make menstrual hygiene products available, at no cost to the public, in each restroom facility that is serviced daily and that is situated within the 5 most visited State parks under the jurisdiction and control of the Department of Natural Resources. Defines "menstrual hygiene products" and "restroom facility". Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Parks Act is amended by adding Section 4d as follows:

(20 ILCS 835/4d new)

Sec. 4d. Menstrual hygiene products pilot program.

(a) In this Section:

"Menstrual hygiene products" means tampons and sanitary napkins for use in connection with the menstrual cycle.

"Restroom facility" means any room equipped with toilets or urinals for use by the public.

(b) The Department shall establish a pilot program to make menstrual hygiene products available, at no cost to the public, in each restroom facility that is serviced daily and that is situated within the 5 most visited State parks under the jurisdiction and control of the Department.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
