SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

210 ILCS 85/6.34 new

Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Requires hospitals that receive a property tax exemption under a provision of the Property Tax Code concerning exemptions related to access to hospital and health care services by low-income and underserved individuals to post the hospital's charity care policy and the contact information of a financial counselor in a reasonably viewable area in the hospital's emergency room.

AN ACT concerning health.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 6.34 as follows:

(210 ILCS 85/6.34 new)

Sec. 6.34. Posting charity care policy, financial counselor. A hospital that receives a property tax exemption under Section 15-86 of the Property Tax Code must post the hospital's charity care policy and the contact information of a financial counselor in a reasonably viewable area in the hospital's emergency room.
