SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

225 ILCS 65/50-80 new

Amends the Nurse Practice Act. Provides that an individual licensed under this Section may apply for a program that provides a full tuition reimbursement to individuals who: (1) attended and graduated from an education program based in the State; and (2) commit to working in a safety-net hospital in the State for at least 5 years.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by adding Section 50-80 as follows:

(225 ILCS 65/50-80 new)

Sec. 50-80. Tuition reimbursement program. An individual licensed under this Act may apply for a program that provides a full tuition reimbursement to individuals who: (i) attended and graduated from an education program based in the State; and (ii) commit to working in a safety-net hospital in the State for at least 5 years. As used in this Section, "safety-net hospital" means a hospital identified by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services under Section 5-5e.1 of the Illinois Public Aid Code.
