SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

410 ILCS 620/3.25 new

Amends the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Provides that, notwithstanding any other provision of law, any packaging of beef sold in Illinois must have a label on the packaging that contains the beef's country of origin.

AN ACT concerning health.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is amended by adding Section 3.25 as follows:

(410 ILCS 620/3.25 new)

Sec. 3.25. Beef packaging; country of origin. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any packaging of beef sold in Illinois must have a label on the packaging that contains the beef's country of origin.
