SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate the Lions of Illinois Foundation on the occasion
4of the 50th anniversary of its founding; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Lions of Illinois have provided services to
6their local communities since the creation of the organization
7in 1917; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Lions of Illinois Foundation was created by
9the Lions of Illinois at a state convention in May of 1974 and
10began operating on July 1, 1974; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Lions of Illinois Foundation was created to
12provide services throughout Illinois to those with vision and
13hearing needs; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Those services include Camp Lions, which began as
15a one week camp for children and has grown to five weeks of
16camp with three locations throughout Illinois, student low
17vision screenings for children with advanced optical needs,
18and adult low vision training for orientation and mobility in
19their homes and community; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Lions of Illinois Foundation provides over

13000 screenings for vision and hearing each year on mobile
2units and sponsors the statewide Candy Day fundraiser with all
3Lions' clubs participating; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
6Lions of Illinois Foundation on its 50th anniversary and wish
7it many more successful years; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the Lions of Illinois Foundation as a symbol of
10our respect and esteem.
