SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of former Kendall County State's Attorney and Illinois GOP Chairman Dallas Ingemunson, who passed away on November 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was a public servant, mentor, advocate, husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was born to Clare and Dorothy Ingemunson in Sandwich on May 23, 1938; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson's family also included his brother, Donald, and his sisters, Peg and Debbie; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson graduated from Newark High School; he received an electrical engineering degree from the University of Illinois before graduating from the DePaul College of Law in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson married his wife of 60 amazing years, Dodie Ingemunson, in Jacksonville in 1963, and they had three sons, Gregg Ingemunson, Kirk Ingemunson, and Boyd Ingemunson; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was named state's attorney by the Kendall County Board on the day his second son was born; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was elected and served six more terms as state's attorney, and he was a driving force in creating the State's Attorney Appellate Prosecutor Office; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was a leader in Illinois politics, serving as the chairman and treasurer of the Illinois Republican Party, as chairman of the Kendall County GOP, and as a mentor to many young public servants, including former Illinois House Minority Leader Tom Cross; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was an outstanding member of his suburban community, serving as a Boy Scouts volunteer, Little League coach, and chair of the Kendall County Plan Commission; he helped establish the local 911 emergency system and the Kendall County YMCA; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was a founding member of The Royal Order of Raccoons Fishing Team and proudly served as its Grand High Exalted Mystic Ruler; and

WHEREAS, When not in Kendall County or Camp Chin-Be-Gota, Dallas Ingemunson could be found chatting in the former Senate President's Office, playing a game of euchre at Norb Andy's in Springfield, watching the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and the Fighting Illini sports teams, or attending any number of his children and grandchildren's athletic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson memory will live on through his ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was a dedicated public servant who was committed to defending the little guy and fighting for freedom and justice, making Illinois, and especially his home of Kendall County, a better, safer place to live; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dallas Ingemunson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we celebrate Dallas Ingemunson's legacy of caring deeply about his community and his devoted service to the greater good; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dallas Ingemunson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
