SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Danny Duwayne Dawson Sr., who passed away on June 8, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dawson was born to Wayne and Dorothy (Kent) Dawson in Fort Hood, Texas on May 23, 1952; he married Charlotte Marie Holocker on January 23, 1971; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dawson's career spanned many avenues, including working at a Shell gas station, Hyster, Iron's Concrete, and Caterpillar; he then joined the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Iowa (BB-61) and was a member of the Iowa Plank Owners Association; he left the Navy after over 13 years of service; he then became a driver for Star Transport, retiring in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dawson will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, his generous and giving heart, and the love he had for his family; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dawson was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Sharon Crabel; and

WHEREAS, Danny Dawson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte; his children, Danny Duwayne (Mabel) Dawson Jr., Douglas Eugene (Tina) Dawson, and David Wayne (Samantha) Dawson; his brothers, Don (Julie) Dawson and Rich (Lorie) Dawson; his sister, Kim (Dennis) Matthews; his brother-in-law, Sid Crabel; his nine grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Danny Duwayne Dawson Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Danny Dawson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
