SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Roger Lewis Ferguson, who passed away
4surrounded on June 9, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was born to Vewen and Laura
6(Baker) Ferguson in Piper City on April 30, 1931; he lived for
7several years with his grandparents, Calvin and Lola Belle,
8and 10 aunts and uncles; he graduated from Chenoa High School;
9he married Norma Delores Eisele in Flanagan on September 3,
101950; he served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force
11during the Korean War; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson and Delores moved to Campus to
13farm and raise dairy cows and hogs after his discharge from the
14military; he farmed for over 40 years and then began a second
15career in professional photography; he was a member of the
16Illinois Photographer Association and won several awards for
17his portraits; he was recognized by the Burrell Printing
18Company for photography, and his photo was selected as the
19cover for a brochure widely distributed throughout the U.S.;
20and
 
 
21    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was elected road commissioner of

1Broughton Township and served for 16 years; he also served as
2clerk of the Village of Emington for six years; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson married Constance "Connie" Bland
4in Urbana on October 10, 1992; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was a member of the American
6Legion; he proudly served as president of the Senior Advisory
7Board for Champaign County; he was a member of United
8Congregational Church in Emington and Friendship Lutheran
9Church of Joy; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was known for his quiet sense of
11humor and easy smile; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson was preceded in death by his
13parents; his wife, Norma; his brother, Howard Ferguson; his
14son-in-law, John Buttitta Jr.; and his grandson, Zachary
15Pound; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Roger Ferguson is survived by his wife, Connie;
17his children, Kathie (James) Pound, Thomas (Tiffany) Ferguson,
18Shannon (Bob) Graulich, Brian Mulcahy, and Darin (Lisa)
19Mulcahy; his grandchildren, Andrea Buttitta, Karin (Andrew)
20Stueland, Timothy (Hope) Buttitta, Kelsey Vansandt, Connor
21(Becca) Ferguson, Gabrielle Cinotto, Gianna Savarino, Madeline

1Pound, Kathleen Graulich, Allyson Graulich, Matthew Graulich,
2Kendal Mulcahy, Braden Mulcahy, Felicia King, and Cameron
3Randa; his great-grandchildren, Kinsley Vansandt, Cash Walker,
4Beau Ferguson, Jacob Clark, Devin Stueland, Quinn Kathleen
5Shockley, Joseph Buttitta, and Thomas Buttitta; and his
6brother, Robert Ferguson; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Roger Lewis Ferguson and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Roger Ferguson as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
