SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward "Ed" Golden of Petersburg, who passed away on May 22, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ed Golden was born to Louis A. and Minnie Bell (Hardin) Golden in Petersburg on August 10, 1926; he was named "Prettiest Baby" at the Menard County Fair in 1927; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War; he married Hazel Boesdorfer in Springfield on October 29, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Ed Golden farmed for his entire life; and

WHEREAS, Ed Golden was a member of the Menard County Farm Bureau, and he served on the National Bank of Petersburg Board and the school board for several years; and

WHEREAS, Ed Golden was a member of Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, where he served in various positions, including as an elder; and

WHEREAS, Ed Golden was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Hazel; his parents; one sister, Dorothy Golden; and one infant brother; and

WHEREAS, Ed Golden is survived by his children, Eric (Deedee), Vincent, and Marjorie; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward "Ed" Golden and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ed Golden as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
