SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edward "Ed" Golden of Petersburg, who
4passed away on May 22, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Golden was born to Louis A. and Minnie Bell
6(Hardin) Golden in Petersburg on August 10, 1926; he was named
7"Prettiest Baby" at the Menard County Fair in 1927; he served
8in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War; he married
9Hazel Boesdorfer in Springfield on October 29, 1960; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ed Golden farmed for his entire life; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ed Golden was a member of the Menard County Farm
12Bureau, and he served on the National Bank of Petersburg Board
13and the school board for several years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ed Golden was a member of Rock Creek Presbyterian
15Church, where he served in various positions, including as an
16elder; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ed Golden was preceded in death by his wife of 62
18years, Hazel; his parents; one sister, Dorothy Golden; and one
19infant brother; and

1    WHEREAS, Ed Golden is survived by his children, Eric
2(Deedee), Vincent, and Marjorie; seven grandchildren; eight
3great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Edward "Ed" Golden and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Ed Golden as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
