| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of John B. "Jack" Klaus Jr. of Des | 4 | | Plaines, who passed away on December 29, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was born in Chicago on July 23, 1939; | 6 | | he was raised in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago; | 7 | | he served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps; he | 8 | | obtained his bachelor's degree in philosophy and his master's | 9 | | degree in public policy from Loyola University; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus served as director of Urban Renewal | 11 | | for both the Lincoln Park neighborhood and the City of Iowa | 12 | | City; he served on the Cook County Economic Development Board | 13 | | for many years; he concluded his long career in public service | 14 | | as economic development director for the City of Des Plaines; | 15 | | and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was a longtime member of St. Mary's | 17 | | Parish; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was a loving uncle and friend to many; | 19 | | and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus was preceded in death by his son, |

| 1 | | John; his parents, John and Mary Klaus; his sister, Virginia | 2 | | Riordan; his brother, Robert; his brothers-in-law, Jim | 3 | | Heffernan, Don Riordan, and Jim Sheridan; and his | 4 | | sister-in-law, Barbara Heffernan; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Klaus is survived by his wife of 63 years, | 6 | | Mary (Heffernan) Diane; his daughters, Kate (the late Dave | 7 | | Miller) Klaus, Ann (John) Feldkamp, Meg (Dan) McKenna, and Amy | 8 | | (Dave) Palmeri; his grandchildren, Katy (Cody) Rank, Janie | 9 | | (DJ) O'Neill, Erin (Matt) O'Neill, Robert Feldkamp, Grace | 10 | | Feldkamp, Greta Klaus, Louie Klaus, Olivia Feldkamp, Joe | 11 | | McKenna, Matthew McKenna, Molly Palmeri, and Ryan Palmeri; his | 12 | | great-grandson, Nolan O'Neill; his sister, Mary Sheridan; his | 13 | | brother, Charles; and his sisters-in-law, Joan Klaus and Pat | 14 | | Klaus; therefore, be it | 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 17 | | John B. "Jack" Klaus Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to | 18 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 19 | | further | 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Jack Klaus as an expression of our | 22 | | deepest sympathy. |
