HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Chief Luis C. Tigera on the occasion of his retirement after more than four decades of service in law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera started his career in law enforcement with the Niles Police Department in June of 1980; he held a variety of positions, including public service aide, communications dispatcher, and reserve officer until he left to join the Illinois State Police in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera held a number of positions with the Illinois State Police from 1985 to 2004, which included the rank of trooper, sergeant, master sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and major; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera served as the deputy administrator for the Illinois Gaming Board from 2004 to 2008; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera held the rank of region one commander with the Illinois State Police from 2008 to 2009; he served as first deputy director of the Illinois State Police from 2009 to 2011; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera was named chief of police for Broadview in July of 2011, serving through April of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera returned to where his career began and became the chief of police for the Niles Police Department in July of 2017, where he led the department through a period of transformative growth and innovation; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera holds a master's degree in police administration from Lewis University and graduated as a member of the 182nd session of the FBI National Academy; and

WHEREAS, Chief Tigera's career will be remembered for his dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to both his officers and the community, and he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and leadership; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chief Luis C. Tigera on his retirement after more than four decades of service in law enforcement, and we wish him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Tigera as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
