SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
305 ILCS 5/5-50 new

    Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to adopt policies and rates for long-acting reversible contraception on or before October 1, 2023 to ensure that reimbursement is not less than the actual acquisition cost. Requires the Department to submit any necessary application to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the purpose of implementing such policies and rates. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5adding Section 5-50 as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/5-50 new)
7    Sec. 5-50. Long-acting reversible contraception. The
8Department shall adopt policies and rates for long-acting
9reversible contraception on or before October 1, 2023 to
10ensure that reimbursement is not less than the actual
11acquisition cost. The Department shall submit any necessary
12application to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
13Services for the purpose of implementing such policies and
14rates.
 
15    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
