SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin L. Rursch of Edgington, who passed away on April 7, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Rursch was born in Rock Island County to Addison and Edith Johnston Rursch on September 3, 1935; he graduated from Reynolds High School in 1953 and honorably served in the U.S. Army; he married Denise Stone in Edgington on June 7, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Rursch joined the Country Companies family, later known as Country Financial, in 1961; he earned his CFP designation and focused on investment and retirement planning and mentoring others during his 47 years; he was passionate about protecting families and their livelihoods, and he always put his customers first in prioritizing their insurance needs; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Rursch took great pride in raising Simmental Cattle; he enjoyed building quality pedigrees and exhibiting these cattle around the country with his children; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Rursch was a lifelong member of Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he had served on many committees; his faith and his family were central to his life; he enjoyed following Rockridge sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Illini; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Rursch was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Duane Rursch, Lois Rursch Anderson, Orville Rursch, Clair Rursch, Donald Rursch, and John Robert "J.R." Rursch; and his niece, Lara Grossman; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Rursch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Denise; his son, Marty Rursch; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Eric Weinert; his step-grandchildren, Cole (Sarah Hunter) Weinert, Lane (Hadley) Weinert, Sawyer Weinert, and Kamden Weinert; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marvin L. Rursch and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvin Rursch as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
