| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Captain Jason Wade Hitch, formerly of | 4 | | Champaign-Urbana and Normal, who passed away on December 14, | 5 | | 2021; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Cpt. Hitch was born in Champaign on December 18, | 7 | | 1975; he attended Holy Cross Elementary School; he graduated | 8 | | from Champaign Central High School in 1994; he earned his | 9 | | Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University in 2001; | 10 | | and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Cpt. Hitch served in the U.S. Army Reserves; his | 12 | | proudest accomplishment was attaining the rank of first | 13 | | lieutenant while stationed out of Lakeland, Florida; he | 14 | | attained the rank of captain posthumously; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Cpt. Hitch owned and operated several businesses | 16 | | in Champaign, including A Pampered Pet, Puttin' on the Dog, | 17 | | Balloon Creations, and Jason's Balloons and Spoons; he | 18 | | successfully sold car parts, memorabilia, and cosmetics on | 19 | | eBay; he also started the online snack business Gifting Fun; | 20 | | and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Cpt. Hitch starred in season 2 of 90 Day Fiance, |

| 1 | | in which he married Cassia Taveras of Brazil; they were | 2 | | divorced in 2018; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Cpt. Hitch dearly loved his Shetland Sheepdogs, | 4 | | Frank and Shara; he was an avid car lover and could often be | 5 | | found working with his father on old Mercedes or El Caminos, of | 6 | | which he owned four; he was especially proud of his '87 El | 7 | | Camino, which he lovingly restored; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Cpt. Hitch is survived by his father, Ron; his | 9 | | siblings, Ryan Hitch and Shannon (Kendric) Speagle; and his | 10 | | nieces and nephews, Ellis, Vivienne, Clementine, and Lyndon | 11 | | Speagle; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Captain Jason Wade Hitch and extend our sincere condolences to | 15 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of Cpt. Hitch as an expression of our | 19 | | deepest sympathy.
