SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ariana Marie Scoggins of Alton, who passed away on February 9, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Ariana Scoggins was born in Alton on February 14, 2006; she was the daughter of Angela Scoggins; and

WHEREAS, Ariana Scoggins attended Alton High School, where she earned an honorary degree as a member of the class of 2024 on February 3, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Ariana Scoggins was a member of the Upper Alton Baptist Church; she loved singing, dancing, and complimenting others; she fulfilled her life's purpose by loving well and being kind; and

WHEREAS, Ariana Scoggins was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Patricia and Jerry Scoggins, John and Helen Rodell, and Tom Saxton; and

WHEREAS, Ariana Scoggins is survived by her mother; her sister, Juniper Scoggins; her grandparents, Carol and Jeff Saxton; her great-grandmother, Jeanette Saxton; and her aunts and uncles, Torrey and Fallyn Saxton, Molly Saxton, J.D. "John" Saxton, and Annie Saxton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ariana Marie Scoggins and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ariana Scoggins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
