SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard W. Baum of Rockdale, who passed away on November 13, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Richard Baum retired in 1988 from the Joliet Police Department after 21 years of service; he worked for 10 years as a private detective and finished his career as police chief at the Rockdale Police Department for 13 years; and

WHEREAS, Richard Baum loved spending time with his family; he was a NASCAR Fan and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino along with an ice-cold beer; and

WHEREAS, Richard Baum was preceded in death his parents, Margaret and Robert Baum; his brothers, Robert and Paul; his sister, Sylvia; and his daughter, Tammy Aleshire; and

WHEREAS, Richard Baum is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane; his children, Geralyn (Sam) Wyke, Todd (Teri) Baum, Dawn (Michael) Dumas, and Chad (Lori) Baum; his grandchildren, Christine (Butch) Dykstra, Matthew (Jen) Wyke, Nicholas Wyke, Kyle and Logan Baum, Maxwell Dumas, and Joshua and Casey Baum; his great-grandchildren, Luke, Ethan, Emily, and Ella Dykstra and Kinzley, Teagan, Brexton, and Gavin Wyke; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard W. Baum and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Baum as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
