SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald "Don" Hall of Andalusia, who
4passed away on October 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Hall was born in Galesburg to Hays and
6Rosalie L. (Biedermann) Hall on February 1, 1938; he grew up in
7Aledo, the stepson of Bird (McCutchan) Hall; he graduated from
8Aledo High School in 1956 and received his Bachelor of Science
9from the University of Illinois in February of 1961; he served
10in the U.S. Army; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Hall entered store management training with
12the Kroger supermarket chain; he managed several stores in
13Illinois and Iowa, including in the Davenport area; in 1969,
14he joined the National Tea Company, Davenport Division; in
151977, when the National Tea Company was sold, he entered the
16real estate sales profession; he worked with Century 21 Marple
17Realty and Century 21 NorthPark; after a merger, he joined the
18Mel Foster Company and retired in 2008, following 31 years of
19service; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Don Hall married Kathy Smith in Davenport on May
216, 1995; and

1    WHEREAS, Don Hall was preceded in death by his parents;
2his stepmother, Bird (McCutchan) Hall; his siblings, Gary,
3William, and Marcella; and his sister-in-law, Janice Hall; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Don Hall is survived by his wife, Kathy; his
5brother, Jerome Hall; his sister, Rosalyn (Richard) Cox; his
6sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hall; his stepbrothers, Maurice,
7Stephen, and Thomas McCutchan; many nieces, nephews,
8great-nieces, and great nephews; his brothers-in-law and
9sisters-in-law, Jim Smith, Jerry Smith, Karen Cawiezell, Joe
10Smith, John Smith, Jeff Smith, and Ann Weeks; and Kaitlyn
11(Crockett) Wessels and Noah, Scarlett, and Hugo, who always
12loved him as "Papa"; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Donald "Don" Hall and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Don Hall as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
