SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald "Don" Hall of Andalusia, who passed away on October 11, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Don Hall was born in Galesburg to Hays and Rosalie L. (Biedermann) Hall on February 1, 1938; he grew up in Aledo, the stepson of Bird (McCutchan) Hall; he graduated from Aledo High School in 1956 and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois in February of 1961; he served in the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Don Hall entered store management training with the Kroger supermarket chain; he managed several stores in Illinois and Iowa, including in the Davenport area; in 1969, he joined the National Tea Company, Davenport Division; in 1977, when the National Tea Company was sold, he entered the real estate sales profession; he worked with Century 21 Marple Realty and Century 21 NorthPark; after a merger, he joined the Mel Foster Company and retired in 2008, following 31 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Don Hall married Kathy Smith in Davenport on May 6, 1995; and

WHEREAS, Don Hall was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Bird (McCutchan) Hall; his siblings, Gary, William, and Marcella; and his sister-in-law, Janice Hall; and

WHEREAS, Don Hall is survived by his wife, Kathy; his brother, Jerome Hall; his sister, Rosalyn (Richard) Cox; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hall; his stepbrothers, Maurice, Stephen, and Thomas McCutchan; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim Smith, Jerry Smith, Karen Cawiezell, Joe Smith, John Smith, Jeff Smith, and Ann Weeks; and Kaitlyn (Crockett) Wessels and Noah, Scarlett, and Hugo, who always loved him as "Papa"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald "Don" Hall and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Hall as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
