SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Francis Urbaan Ballegeer of East
4Moline, who passed away on August 2, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer was born in Moline to Urbaan
6and Goldie (Callewaert) Ballegeer on October 31, 1928; he
7married Marilyn Schwenneker at St. Mary's Catholic Church in
8East Moline on September 16, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer worked a few years for the East
10Moline Street Department, at Emil De Donker's Feed Mill in
11East Moline, and then briefly at a foundry before joining the
12U.S. Marine Corps for two years; after his service, he and his
13wife rented a farm near Carbon Cliff for two years; they then
14bought a farm in Green Rock; that farm and half of the Urbaan
15Ballegeer farm on Coaltown Road are still owned and farmed by
16Francis's family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer served four years as road
18commissioner of Colona Township; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer enjoyed motorcycling and water
20skiing for recreation in his younger years; his favorite
21recreation was horseback riding, and he participated in many

1organized trail rides, shoed horses for several years, and
2enjoyed western movies; in later years, he loved sitting with
3his wife on the deck overlooking the Ballegeer Pond; after his
4wife passed, he especially enjoyed the company of his
5great-grandchildren; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer was preceded in death by his
7parents; his wife, Marilyn; his sister, Catherine Miller; his
8brothers, Edward, Leonard, and Robert Ballegeer; and his
9daughter, Sherry McKeag; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Francis Ballegeer is survived by his sons, Larry
11(Mary Kay) Ballegeer, David (Robbin) Ballegeer, and Steve
12Ballegeer; his grandchildren, Shannon, Mitch, Megan, Josh,
13Jake, Joseph, James, Jason, Adam, and Stephanie; his
14great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dallas, Desirae, Destiny, Hunter,
15Emery, Rylie, Judd, Deegan, and William; his
16step-grandchildren, Brandon and Nick; and his brother, Donald;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Francis Urbaan Ballegeer and extend our sincere condolences to
21his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
22further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to the family of Francis Ballegeer as an expression
3of our deepest sympathy.
