SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Orlando A. Krueger of Springfield, who passed away on August 11, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Orlando Krueger was born in Springfield to Otto W. and Edna M (Niewedde) Krueger on October 4, 1926; he served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949; he received his undergraduate degree from Ripon College; he earned his master's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana; and

WHEREAS, Orlando Krueger held numerous positions as a civil engineer in roadway and dam construction industries; he most recently served as vice president of S.J. Groves & Sons Contractors, an international highway and tunneling company, until his retirement; he was most proud of several of his engineering projects, namely Garrison Dam in North Dakota and the rehabilitation of the Eden's Expressway in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Orlando Krueger was a founding member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he served on various boards and committees and sang in the choir; he was instrumental in the development of Camp Cilca; he also served on the founding board of Concordia Village; and

WHEREAS, Orlando Krueger was deeply proud of his family; he enjoyed international travel and was a big supporter of the many sports and activities of the Lutheran High School Crusaders; and

WHEREAS, Orlando Krueger was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Paulen; his second wife, Jane Krusa; his sisters, Arlene Krueger and Claretta Scott; and his brothers, Loren Krueger, Bernard Krueger, and Wilbur Krueger; and

WHEREAS, Orlando Krueger is survived by his sons, Clifford "Cliff" (Lisa J.) Krueger and Curtis "Curt" (Lisa A.) Krueger; his four grandchildren; his four step-grandchildren; his several great-grandchildren; his brothers, Rev. Delmar (Doris) Krueger and Herbert (Virginia) Krueger; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Orlando A. Krueger and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Orlando Krueger as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
