SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Vincent L. "Vince" Looby of Springfield, who passed away on August 5, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Vince Looby was born in Greenview to William H. and Marguerite (Doyle) Looby on June 24, 1928; he graduated from Greenview High School in 1947; he attended Springfield Jr. College; he earned his bachelor's degree from Sangamon State University; he married Earlona Williams in Springfield on June 23, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Vince Looby served in the U.S. Air Force and Illinois Air National Guard for 37 years, retiring as a colonel; and

WHEREAS, Vince Looby was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks; he served as chair and board member of Heartland Credit Union; he also served as president of Senior Services of Illinois for 15 years and as a member of the Springfield Planning and Zoning Commission for 16 years; he loved sports, coaching youth teams for many years, and the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Vince Looby was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William P. Looby; and his sister, Ruth L. Kauffman; and

WHEREAS, Vince Looby is survived by his wife, Earlona "Lonnie" Looby; his sons, Jim (Melinda) Looby, William Looby, and David Looby; his daughters, Ann Marie Young, Lynn Marguerite, and Amy Looby; his 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Doering, David (Alyssa) Castor, Sean Looby, Matt Looby, Molly Looby, Emily Looby, Isaac Looby, Andrew Looby, Thomas Looby, Daniel Looby, Logan Looby, and London Looby; his great-grandchildren, Jack Castor, Holden Looby, Charlotte Doering, Charlie Castor, and Joshua Doering; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Vincent L. "Vince" Looby and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Vince Looby as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
