SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles "Toby" W. Stoudt of Orion, who passed away on August 1, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was born to Harry W. and Kate R. (Himmelburger) Stoudt in Leland on July 2, 1927; he married Leona Mae Swanson in Orion on January 8, 1952; he was a U.S. Army and Merchant Marines veteran who served in World War Two and the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was the owner and operator of the Swanson Hardware Store in Orion; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was a former volunteer with the Orion Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was a member of Orion American Legion Post 255; he was a founding and life member of Orion V.F.W. Post 143 where he previously served as the Post Advocate from 1973 1975 and former Post Junior Vice Commander; he also served on the honor guard with both the American Legion and VFW; he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and swapping lies with friends; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Amanda Stratton, Harriet Stoudt, Irma Williams, Kathryn Smith, Marguerite Chamberlain, Charlotte Claude, Annie Gunderson, John Stoudt, Frank Stoudt, Raymond Stoudt, and Harry Stoudt; and his granddaughter, Nichole Stoudt; and

WHEREAS, Toby Stoudt is survived by his wife; his children, Brian (Patricia) Stoudt, and Arlan (Jennifer Miller) Stoudt; his grandchildren, Ronald W. (Karen Mackey) Higbee II, Tonya (Christian) Remley, Kristina (Patric) Harris, Heidi (David) Cousins, and Amanda Stoudt; his 16 great-grandchildren; and his eight great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles "Toby" W. Stoudt and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Toby Stoudt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
