SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard A. DeSmet of East Moline, who passed away on June 30, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Richard DeSmet was born to Rene and Margaret DeSmet in Rock Island on January 11, 1931; he married Marietta Eeckhout in East Moline on January 14, 1950; he served in the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Richard DeSmet retired from John Deere Harvester Works; and

WHEREAS, Richard DeSmet was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Deborah DeSmet; his grandchildren, Crystal DeSmet and Johnny Kaskadden; and his sister, Irene; and

WHEREAS, Richard DeSmet is survived by his children, Dennis (Margaret) DeSmet, Ric (Mindee) DeSmet, and Jeff DeSmet; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard A. DeSmet and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard DeSmet as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
