SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thecla M. Keenan of Peoria, who passed away on June 21, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Thecla Keenan was born in LaSalle to Frederick and Thecla (Brida) Aaron on November 7, 1931; she married William H. Keenan at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria on October 16, 1954; she earned her Registered Nurse certification; and

WHEREAS, Thecla Keenan worked as a surgical nurse at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for 44 years; and

WHEREAS, Thecla Keenan was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Peoria; she loved golfing at Timberlake Club of Peoria; she crocheted countless infant blankets for the OSF Children's Hospital; she enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping with her cousin, Helen Gallagher; and

WHEREAS, Thecla Keenan was preceded in death by her daughters, Theresa Simmons and Kathleen Wukitsch, and her brothers, Joseph Aaron and Thomas Aaron; and

WHEREAS, Thecla Keenan is survived by her husband of over 66 years, William H. Keenan; her sons, Tim (Lesley) Keenan and Paul (Kim) Keenan; her brothers, Paul (Carol) Aaron and Alan (Judy) Aaron; her sister-in-law, Marcia Aaron; her grandchildren, Erin, TJ, Jeremy, Thomas, and Mary; and her great-grandson, Aaron; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thecla M. Keenan and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thecla Keenan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
