SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Pearline Wiley of Chicago; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Pearline Wiley was born in Clacks, Mississippi to
5Walter and Ethel McIntosh on January 29, 1932; she relocated
6to Memphis, Tennessee, where she met Johnny Wiley and they had
7six children; she later relocated to Chicago, where she took
8up permanent residence; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Pearline Wiley became deeply committed to her
10faith at an early age in Clacks, Mississippi; after relocating
11to Chicago, she joined the Church of Christ located on 198
12South Spaulding Avenue; she later joined the Helping Hand M.B.
13Church under the leadership of Reverend and Founder Joseph B.
14Kelly, where she served faithfully and was honored to be the
15last surviving Adams Street member; she served the church in
16various positions, including as superintendent of the Sunday
17school, supervisor of the children's choir, teacher, and choir
18member; she was a member of the Beautifying Club, the Pastor
19Aide Club, the Ways and Means Committee, and the Missionary
20Society; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Pearline Wiley was known for being very outspoken
22and stern but loving when offering words of wisdom; she

1commanded respect, which gave way to loving her
2unconditionally; she sowed the seeds of love and reaped a
3harvest of love in her lifetime; she will be missed;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Pearline Wiley and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Pearline Wiley as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
