SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Matthew R. "Matt" Moon Sr. of Rock Island, who passed away on June 3, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Matt Moon was born in Moline to Ernest L. and Ethel J. (Winters) Moon on December 4, 1931; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Frances L. Watson in Moline on April 26, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Matt Moon worked as a stationary fireman for John Deere Harvester before retiring in 1987; he later worked in maintenance for Black Hawk College; and

WHEREAS, Matt Moon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ernest Moon; and

WHEREAS, Matt Moon is survived by his wife; his children, Matthew (Carol) Moon Jr., Ernest L. (Ilse) Moon, William P. (Tina) Moon, Georgia L. Lauritzson, Hubert Ray Moon, Darlene J. Moon, Andrew S. Moon, Jeffrey I. (Julie) Moon, and Steven A. (Nancy) Moon; his 33 grandchildren; his 57 great-grandchildren; and his five great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Matthew R. "Matt" Moon Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Matt Moon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
