SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Philip James "Phil" Murphy of Park Ridge, Illinois and Washington Island, Wisconsin, who passed away on February 23, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was born in Chicago on July 14, 1936; he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was a lifelong member of IBEW 134; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marion (Serrar) Murphy; his sister, Patricia Wild; and his brother-in-law, William Wild; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was the husband for 62 years of Norine (McSweeney); the father of Colleen (David) Miller, the Honorable Laura Murphy (Michael Jekot), James (Patricia) Murphy, MaryEllen McLenighan, and Daniel (Eileen) Murphy; the grandfather of nine; the great-grandfather of six; and the uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Philip James "Phil" Murphy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Phil Murphy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
