SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David S. "Dave" Chapman of Fieldon,
4who passed away on April 19, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania
6to David S. and Ruth (Roberts) Chapman on July 10, 1943; he
7grew up in Carbondale, Pennsylvania and graduated from
8Benjamin Franklin High School in 1961; he moved to Chicago to
9be close to his sister and served with the United States Army
10as a Specialist 5th Class; he married Rosie Cain in Nutwood on
11June 17, 1967; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was employed as a machinist with
13McDonnel-Douglas/Boeing for 33 years, retiring in 1999; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dave Chapman enjoyed working on cars and learning
15about and sharing his knowledge of cars; he was involved in
16stock car racing for over 30 years, where he made many lasting
17friendships along the way, including the very special bond he
18shared with racing buddy, Jake Seets; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was active with his church, Charity
20Christian Center; he served as Deacon for 29 years and was
21selfless and always willing to help those in need in any way

1possible; he was kind, soft-spoken, and always had time to
2answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small; he
3also enjoyed spending time with his girls at the Archery Club
4and raised his girls to be independent women, prepared for any
5challenge; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was preceded in death by his
7parents; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dave Chapman is survived by his wife, Rose; his
9daughters, Rachel (Todd) Cannedy, Amy (Brad) Welton, and
10Andrea Chapman; his grandchildren, Seth Chapman, Audrey
11Chapman, Lexi Swan, Drew Welton, and MarthaRose Cannedy; his
12great-grandson, Archie; and numerous nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16David S. "Dave" Chapman and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Dave Chapman as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
