SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Daniel "Dan" W. Cadigan of
4Springfield, who passed away on April 16, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was born to Joseph and Eva Kress
6Cadigan in Springfield on October 31, 1939; he graduated from
7Cathedral Boys High School in 1957; he attended Springfield
8Junior College and graduated from Washington University in St.
9Louis with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting; he married
10Mary Margaret "Peggy" Weber on October 18, 1969; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan joined the firm Kerber, Eck &
12Braeckel LLP in 1961 where he was a managing partner; he worked
13at KEB for 43 years, enjoyed his colleagues, and was a leader,
14mentor, and role model to many; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan's volunteer efforts spanned more than
1650 years and included youth, business, and governmental
17organizations; he held many leadership positions and served on
18the boards for many community organizations, such as the
19American Business Club, the Illinois CPA Society, the American
20Institute of CPAs, the Association of Government Accountants,
21the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Leadership Springfield,
22the Chaine de Rotisseurs, and the Marine Bank Board; he served

1on the County Board, was a United Way Chairman, and taught
2accounting at Springfield College in Illinois; he loved
3volunteering at various local schools and taught current
4events at Blessed Sacrament School and, in recent years, at
5Graham Elementary School; he was on many fundraising
6committees at Sacred Heart-Griffin over the years; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was a member of the Sangamo Club and
8the Island Bay Yacht Club; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was the "Irishman of the Year" in
101986 and was the 52nd Recipient of the Copley First Citizen
11Award in 2014; he was the first member of the Sacred
12Heart-Griffin Hall of Fame; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was an avid history buff, a Los
14Angeles Dodgers fan, and a University of Illinois fan; he
15generously gave to the "I Fund" and loved Illinois and Sacred
16Heart-Griffin sports; he had a great sense of humor and loved
17to tell jokes; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan was preceded in death by his parents
19and his brother, Patrick Cadigan; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dan Cadigan is survived by his wife, Peggy
21Cadigan; his daughter, Shannon White; his grandchildren, Blake

1and Benjamin White; his sister, Susan A. Cadigan; his
2sisters-in-law, Patty Cadigan and Patty (Scott) Shapiro; his
3brother-in-law, Mike Weber; his one niece; and his six
4nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Daniel "Dan" W. Cadigan and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dan Cadigan as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
