SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Frank J. Mavetz of Wee Ma Tuk, who
4passed away on August 14, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Mavetz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to
6Frank J. and Ursula (Pahula) Mavetz on December 14, 1945; he
7graduated from high school in Milwaukee in 1964, where he
8excelled in baseball, basketball, and football; he attended
9Bradley University on a basketball scholarship from 1964 until
101968, where he also played baseball; he was a proud member of
11the 1968 Bradley Braves Missouri Valley Championship Baseball
12Team; he married Catherine M. Margritz on October 3, 1970, and
13she preceded him in death on July 26, 2008; he married Janet
14Bergantz at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Glasford on
15September 24, 2011; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Frank Mavetz was an educator at Elmwood High
17School for 34 years, retiring in 2002; he coached basketball,
18baseball, and football; he also served as athletic director
19for 10 years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Frank Mavetz was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
21Church in Canton and then joined St. Peters Lutheran Church in
22Glasford; he enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, hunting, and

1fishing; he was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the
2Chicago Cubs, and the Milwaukee Brewers; most of all, he
3enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending all
4of their sporting events; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Mavetz was preceded in death by his first
6wife, Catherine, and his parents; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Frank Mavetz is survived by his wife, Janet; his
8children, Elizabeth Mavetz (Anthony Hall) and Nicholas (Jeni)
9Mavetz; his stepchildren, Darcie Schultz, Jacqueline Merriman,
10and Christina (Jason) Koenig; his grandchildren, Roary, Lilli,
11and Charli Mavetz; nine step-grandchildren; and eight
12step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Frank J. Mavetz and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Frank Mavetz as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
