SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Reverend Arthur V. Woolley of Bement, who passed away on January 21, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was born in Saybrook to Thomas B. and Elizabeth Ring Woolley on July 3, 1934; he served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1956 to 1958; he married Betty A. Richard on February 14, 1959, and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was an editor for the family-owned newspaper in Colfax; he served as pastor for over 40 years, and he touched many lives with his ministry; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was a member of the Kansas Masonic Lodge 280 for 49 years; he was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, and he attended many games throughout the years with his family; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty; his eldest son, Thomas R. Woolley; his parents; and a sister; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Woolley is survived by his children, John R. (Deanna) Woolley, Mark R. (Carol) Woolley, Sandra (Lenny) Summar, and Matthew R. Woolley; his 12 grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Reverend Arthur V. Woolley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Woolley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
