SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Dale "Jack" Evans of Pekin, who passed away on August 5, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans was born to Joseph W. and Jessie I. (Clark) Evans in Pekin on April 14, 1942; he married Jane Rosemary Westerhouse in Miami, Oklahoma on December 10, 1960; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 31 years, retiring from quality control in 1996; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans was a proud member of UAW Local 974; as a retiree, he served the union as recording secretary and as a former trustee; he was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans volunteered for the bi-monthly blood drives held at the union hall for many years; he also volunteered with Junior Achievement in earlier years; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans enjoyed golfing and woodworking; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Evans; his grandson, Matthew Evans; and his two brothers, Joseph Evans and Charles "Bud" Evans; and

WHEREAS, Jack Evans is survived by his wife; his two sons, Jack (Michelle) Evans and Joseph (Kim) Evans; his daughter, Jessie (Carey) Rice; his six grandchildren, Tyler (Holly) Evans, Felicia (Derek) Auth, Danielle (Eric) McElroy, Zachary (Adrianna) Rice, Bendigo (Chassidy) Evans, and Pete (Elena) Evans; his nine great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Nora Haynes and Jean (Ron) Peoples; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Dale "Jack" Evans and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Evans as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
