SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Pedelty, who
4passed away on November 9, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty was born in Streator to Robert and
6Lucile Pedelty on January 22, 1933 at the end of the Great
7Depression; after the passing of his parents, he and his
8siblings lived with their paternal grandfather, Robert
9Pedelty, and his father's sisters, Josephine Loughridge and
10Doris Zelenak, and with their maternal grandparents, Thomas
11and Johanna Langan; he graduated from St. Mary's Grade School
12and Streator High School, where he found his love of cars,
13which gave him his great mechanical ability; he married
14Marilyn Baker on September 11, 1955; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty worked at Palko's Gas Station but
16began assisting his in-laws, LaVerne and Nathella Baker,
17farming their land in Ransom; eventually, he found himself
18farming full time and had purchased more of his own land; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty served the community of Ransom in
20many different roles, including as a board member for the
21Ransom Grade School Board of Education from 1965 until 1979;
22he served as a volunteer fireman on the Allen Township Fire

1Department for many years and on the board of the Allen and
2Otter Creek Insurance Company; and
 
3    WHEREAS, For several years, Bob Pedelty would rise early
4and open Jerry's Tap in Ransom for all of his neighbors to have
5a cup of coffee before they started their days; he was also a
6member of the Ransom United Methodist Church and the Streator
7Elk's Club for almost 50 years; he and Marilyn found a winter
8home in Naples, Florida, where they built many long-lasting
9friendships over the 20 years they wintered there; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty was preceded in death by his parents;
11his sister, Joann (Pedelty) Ferron; and his brother, John
12"Jack" Pedelty; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty is survived by his daughters, Sharon
14(Spencer) McDonald, Barbara (Kevin) Conner, and Judy (Brad)
15Verdun; his grandchildren, Tonya Stillwell (Ryan Dilley),
16Travis (Kelly) McDonald, Brendan Conner (Shanon Wilkinson),
17Amber (Eric) Metelka, Ryan Verdun (Megan Murray), and Kirsten
18Verdun (Laura Trout); his great-grandchildren, Treyton
19Stillwell, Myah Stillwell, Spencer McDonald, Charlotte
20McDonald, Abram Metelka, and Lucille Metelka; his
21sister-in-law, Maryann Pedelty; and many nieces and nephews;
22therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Robert Joseph "Bob" Pedelty and extend our sincere condolences
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Bob Pedelty as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
