SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kenneth E. "Ken" Frels of Coal Valley,
4who passed away on November 3, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Frels was born to Floyd and Lila (Wainright)
6Frels in Barstow on November 20, 1931; he married Donna
7DePorter in East Moline on May 22, 1954; he served in the U.S.
8Army in Korea during the Korean War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ken Frels worked at the former Desaulniers
10Printing Co. for 44 years, where he retired as president; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ken Frels was a member of St. Maria Goretti
12Church in Coal Valley and American Legion Post 246 in Moline;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ken Frels enjoyed his John Deere riding lawn
15mower, giving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren rides;
16he also enjoyed woodworking, cars, and all sports, especially
17college football; he dearly loved his family; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ken Frels was preceded in death by his brother,
19Melvin; and

1    WHEREAS, Ken Frels is survived by his wife; his children,
2Steve (Valerie) Frels, Linda (Ed) Johnson, and John (Monica)
3Frels; his grandchildren, Michael (Angela) Frels, Jenny (Tom)
4Lenger, Thomas Johnson, Andrew Frels, Kate Frels, and Ryan
5Frels; his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler, Clare, Shane,
6and Carter; his brothers, Ted Frels and Everett Frels; and his
7sister-in-law, Kathy Neilson; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Kenneth E. "Ken" Frels and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Ken Frels as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
