SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Theresa Norton Greco of Springfield, who passed away on September 16, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Greco was born to Donald R. Norton Sr. and Mary Terry Norton in Boulder, Colorado on December 24, 1963; she graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1981; she earned her Communications degree from Illinois College in Jacksonville, where she belonged to different organizations, most notably Gamma Delta Literary Society; she earned her Elementary Education degree and her master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Illinois of Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Greco began her teaching career at Douglas Alternative School and later taught at Southeast High School; she then accepted a position at Springfield High School, where she spent 19 years positively impacting the lives of thousands of students as a teacher and later as an assistant principal; she concluded her career as assistant principal for Franklin Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Greco loved rooting for her cherished St. Louis Cardinals; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Greco was preceded in death by her father; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Greco is survived by her sons, Dominic Joseph Greco and Alexander Owen Greco; her mother; her brother, Donald R. (Beth) Norton Jr.; her nieces, Katie Norton, Lauren Norton, and Madison Hamilton; her beloved family friend, Ethan Holloway; her precious kittens, Gamma and Rho; her Gamma Delta Literary Society sisters; her many dear friends; her students; and her fellow teachers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Theresa Norton Greco and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Theresa Greco as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
