SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dr. David M. Dillman of Danville, who
4passed away on August 18, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman was born to Leslie and Cecelia
6(Hullinger) Dillman in Provo, Utah on November 14, 1950; he
7graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1972 and the
8Indiana University School of Medicine in 1976; he completed
9his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; he
10married Cheryl Vergin in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 25,
111980, and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2021; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman started his own practice, Dillman Eye
13Care, in Danville in the 1980s; during his career, he became
14known as a pioneer in the field of cataract surgery; he retired
15in 2017; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman raised and adored seven Newfoundland
17dogs, and he was known for taking them on long walks around
18Danville; he was an avid Notre Dame football fan; he enjoyed
19playing card games, especially euchre, during which he enjoyed
20telling jokes to his family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman was a dedicated family man, always

1attending his children's extracurricular events and being
2there to offer support; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman was preceded in death by his wife;
4his parents; and his sister, Dawnelle Dillman; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Dillman is survived by his daughters, Kayla
6Dillman and Meryl (Ryan Kaiser) Dillman; his grandchildren,
7Cecelia Kaiser and June Kaiser; his sister, Debbie (Dave
8Moody) Dillman; and his brother, Dean (Karen) Dillman;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Dr. David M. Dillman and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Dr. Dillman as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
