SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David Bernard Menke of Moline, who passed away on August 10, 2022; and

WHEREAS, David Menke was born to Christopher and Rose (Pomberg) Menke in Houghton, Iowa on September 28, 1938; he served in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed in Alaska for two years; he married Annette Davis in Fort Madison, Iowa on September 25, 1960; and

WHEREAS, David Menke was a tool and die maker for several area businesses, spending most of his career at the Rock Island Arsenal; he retired in September 2000; and

WHEREAS, David Menke belonged to Calvary Lutheran Church, the Horticulture Club, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM); he enjoyed collecting and repairing cuckoo clocks; he also enjoyed woodworking and refinishing; and

WHEREAS, David Menke was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Mary Ellen Searcy, Clarence Menke, and Leonard Menke; and

WHEREAS, David Menke is survived by his wife, Annette; his sons, Zack Menke and Tor (Terri) Menke; his grandchildren, Jacqueline Menke, Colton Menke, and Raegan Menke; and his sisters, Fran Beck and Ruth Stewart; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David Bernard Menke and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Menke as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
