SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harold Lyle Harmon of Milan, who passed away on July 25, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was born in Shevlin, Minnesota to Jeremiah "Jerry" and Anna (Syverson) Harmon on October 12, 1932; he attended grade school in Shevlin and graduated from Bagley High School in 1950; he joined the U.S. Air Force in November 1950 and completed his basic training in California; he was later stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas; he served four years of active duty, one in French Morocco, North Africa; in October 1960, he was honorably discharged; he married Colleen Ellis in the chapel at Sheppard Air Force Base on April 3, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Harold Harmon returned to Pengilly, Minnesota with Colleen, and he worked in the iron mines until he enrolled at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and studied HVAC; starting his lifelong career, he began working for Central Electric in Davenport, Iowa; he and Colleen purchased a small home in Milan, and they started their family a short time later; they began major renovation and construction on their "Harmon Homestead" with help from family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; and

WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Craig; his sister, Corinne; and his brothers, Bob, Lester, and Milo; and

WHEREAS, Harold Harmon is survived by his wife of 69 years, Colleen; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Harmon; his daughter, Letha Driskell; his son, Anthony "Tony" (Kim) Harmon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Kenton (Lorraine) Harmon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harold Lyle Harmon and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Harmon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
