SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Harold Lyle Harmon of Milan, who
4passed away on July 25, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was born in Shevlin, Minnesota to
6Jeremiah "Jerry" and Anna (Syverson) Harmon on October 12,
71932; he attended grade school in Shevlin and graduated from
8Bagley High School in 1950; he joined the U.S. Air Force in
9November 1950 and completed his basic training in California;
10he was later stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita
11Falls, Texas; he served four years of active duty, one in
12French Morocco, North Africa; in October 1960, he was
13honorably discharged; he married Colleen Ellis in the chapel
14at Sheppard Air Force Base on April 3, 1953; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Harold Harmon returned to Pengilly, Minnesota
16with Colleen, and he worked in the iron mines until he enrolled
17at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and studied HVAC;
18starting his lifelong career, he began working for Central
19Electric in Davenport, Iowa; he and Colleen purchased a small
20home in Milan, and they started their family a short time
21later; they began major renovation and construction on their
22"Harmon Homestead" with help from family and friends; and

1    WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was a devoted husband, father,
2grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was preceded in death by his
4parents; his son, Craig; his sister, Corinne; and his
5brothers, Bob, Lester, and Milo; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Harold Harmon is survived by his wife of 69
7years, Colleen; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Harmon; his
8daughter, Letha Driskell; his son, Anthony "Tony" (Kim)
9Harmon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his
10brother, Kenton (Lorraine) Harmon; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Harold Lyle Harmon and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Harold Harmon as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
