SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" King, who passed away on July 10, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Tony King was born in the Durcan home in Aclare, Tubbercurry, County Sligo, Ireland to Joseph and Kathleen (Durcan) King on February 27, 1945; he graduated from Leo High School in Chicago in 1963 and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, where he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War; he obtained his bachelor's degree from Lewis University and his master's degree from Governors State University and spent most of his adult life living in the Joliet area; and

WHEREAS, Tony King retired from Valley View School District 365U after 32 years of teaching; and

WHEREAS, Tony King was a past member of V.F.W. Post #12059 Plainfield and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12863 Channahon and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church; he was an avid reader and a member of the Joliet Library Book Club; his passion was gardening, evident by the vegetables and gorgeous flower beds he grew in his yard; his love of travel took him and his family on many wonderful trips in the U.S. and Europe; and

WHEREAS, Tony King was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Tony King is survived by his wife of 40 years, Teresa "Terri" (Wilhelmi) King; his son, Anthony J. King Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Joseph R. (Cathy) Wilhelmi, Chris (the late Ann Marie) Wilhelmi, and Tom (the late Angie) Wilhelmi; his niece, Lisa (Marc) Judnick and their children, Gregory and Noelle; his nephew, Joseph (Cheryl) Wilhelmi and their son, Carter; his niece, Jessica Wilhelmi and her daughters, Maecyn and Hadley; his nieces, Rachel and Sophia Wilhelmi; his cousin, John Durkin and the Durkin family; his friends, Jose Garcia and Joe and Bonnie Dressar; his neighbors, Marty and Cathy Lepacek and Sherri and Mike Kirincich; and numerous other cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Anthony "Tony" King and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tony King as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
