SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles E. "Chuck" Brooks of Danville,
4who passed away on February 8, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was born in Danville to Charles and
6Sandra (Mackin) Brooks on January 27, 1959; he graduated from
7Danville High School and from Danville Area Community College
8with an associate's degree; he married Rita Hyer in Danville
9on May 20, 2000; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks worked at the ESCO factory and spent
11many years at the United Way before his most recent position as
12administrator at Danville Township; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was always giving back to the
14community; he served on the Community Services Counsel, as
15Secretary/Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, and as past board member
16and president of the Vermilion County Conservation District
17Board of Trustees; he also served as chairman of the Danville
18Area Food Pantry, the Vermilion County Democratic party, and
19the FEMA Board for Vermilion County; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks managed the Septemberfest
21celebration and Labor Day parades in Danville for many years;

1he was instrumental in getting the local postal carriers and
2the Frost Bite Marathon food drives started in Vermilion
3County; he volunteered with the Salvation Army as part of the
4Christmas Cheer Counsel and the Back-to-School supply
5distribution; he also enjoyed volunteering at Haunted
6Happenings for the Conservation District; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was affectionately known as "Papa
8Chuck", "Pawka", and "Uncle Chuck" to his family members; he
9was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and
10Illini; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks enjoyed spending time with family
12and friends and watching his favorite teams; he was an avid fan
13of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt; he enjoyed movies, especially
14Star Wars; recently, he and his wife enjoyed a magical
15Tennessee Christmas at his favorite vacation spot in Pigeon
16Forge; his greatest passion was combining his computer skills
17and his love of Christmas to create the Brooks Family
18Christmas, lighting up rural Danville for the past 22 years
19and always trying to make it bigger and better than the year
20before; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks was preceded in death by his
22daughter, Kim Washkowiak, and his father, Charles Brooks; and

1    WHEREAS, Chuck Brooks is survived by his wife, Rita; his
2mother, Sandra Brooks; his brother, Mark (Tammy) Brooks; his
3children, Amanda "Amy" Long and Karha (Eric) Rosson; his
4grandchildren, Nicholas (Kirstie) Hedges, Dylan Washkowiak,
5McKenna Rosson, Maci Long, and Kaiden and Christopher Hazel;
6and his nieces and nephews, Hannah (Ronnie), Miles, Nora, and
7Isla Wheeler, Matthew Brooks (Olivia Emerick), and Josh and
8Jaxon Dicken; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Charles E. "Chuck" Brooks and extend our sincere condolences
12to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Chuck Brooks as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
