SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Earl L. Hansen of Moline, who passed away on June 29, 2022 at the age of 100; and

WHEREAS, Earl Hansen was born in Ringsted, Iowa to John and Sena Hansen on July 20, 1921; he worked at Eagle Signal before joining the U.S. Army, where he served over three years in the South Pacific and received a Bronze Star for his service; he married Mary Lynn in Moline on July 10, 1942; and

WHEREAS, Earl Hansen returned to Eagle Signal after his service; he also worked as a machine operator and inspector at John Deere, retiring in 1979 after 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Earl Hansen was a member of First Lutheran Church in Moline and the UAW 865 in East Moline and a social member of the Vikings Club; he enjoyed working on cars and being with his family; he was avid NASCAR fan and loved traveling to watch the Daytona races; he also enjoyed spending his winters in Florida; and

WHEREAS, Earl Hansen was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn; his parents; his brother, Harold; and his sister, Gladys McCloud; and

WHEREAS, Earl Hansen is survived by his sons, Roy (Helen), Lloyd (Cathe), and Chris (Colleen) Hansen; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Earl L. Hansen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Earl Hansen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
